The Five-Day Chegaga, Taroudant and Essaouira Route
See the complete published tour and booking details for this journey.
Marrakech to Agdez
The opening day crosses the High Atlas for Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate, including Taourirt Kasbah, before continuing to Agdez in the Drâa Valley. It is an active first day with a guest-house overnight, not a direct drive to the Atlantic.
Erg Chegaga via M’Hamid
Day 2 travels south past the Drâa Valley’s palm groves and earthen villages, then continues beyond M’Hamid into the dunes. A sunset camel ride leads into the camp evening. This is the Saharan part of the itinerary, followed by a different style of desert crossing the next morning.
Lake Iriqui to Taroudant
The third day uses 4×4 tracks across the dry Lake Iriqui area toward Foum Zguid. The journey then passes Taznakht, known for carpets in the page’s programme, and Taliouine, noted for saffron, before dinner and a night in Taroudant. Allow the guide to set realistic breaks across this long transition.
Agadir stop, Essaouira stay
Day 4 gives time in Taroudant and a quick stop in Agadir, then reaches Essaouira for a riad night. Day 5 is a free morning for the Atlantic town before the late-afternoon Marrakech return. The offer is a desert-to-coast loop; Agadir is a stop, not the final destination or an overnight in this schedule.
