Packing for the six-day Marrakech–Merzouga–Chegaga tour is easier when you think in stages. The listed nights move from a Tinghir guesthouse to a Merzouga tent, an Agdz hotel or guesthouse, a Chegaga tent and Ouarzazate. You do not need six separate bags, but you should be able to reach essentials during drives and at both desert camps.
Keep a small day bag within reach
- Carry water, sun protection, sunglasses and a scarf or cap for exposed stops.
- Keep your phone, charging cable, power bank and a cloth for dusty lenses together.
- Put any personal essentials you need during the day in the bag you carry yourself.
- Keep a light layer accessible for changing temperatures in the mountains and after sunset.
Long drives connect the stops in the published itinerary, including the Atlas crossing, Merzouga to Agdz, and the travel to and from Chegaga. A bag you can open at a short stop is more practical than an item packed at the bottom of a large suitcase.
Prepare for the two separate desert nights
The offer lists private tents in Merzouga and Chegaga, separated by a night in Agdz. Pack comfortable footwear for walking on uneven ground and a layer for the evening. A scarf helps with sun, wind and fine sand; a small light can help you move around after dark. Keep sleepwear, toiletries and the next morning’s clothes easy to find.
Before departure, ask the operator how your main luggage is transported and what can accompany you to each camp. Do not assume the vehicle or tent arrangement is identical in the two desert areas. If you plan to use a camera, protect it from dust and check that batteries and storage are ready before leaving the previous accommodation.
Allow for changing ground and weather
The six days include mountain roads, gorges, a palm grove, dunes and a track near the Lake Iriqui area. Comfortable walking shoes and breathable daytime clothing are a useful base. Add layers rather than relying on a single heavy item; conditions can change between a warm daytime stop and a desert evening. Ask about the forecast close to departure and adjust your bag to the season.
The published packing tab specifically mentions sunglasses, sunscreen, a scarf or cap, towels and handkerchiefs. Confirm whether towels and other camp amenities are supplied for your booking so you can decide what to carry yourself.
Set aside money and documents
Keep identification and booking details secure and accessible. The listed tour includes accommodation with breakfasts and dinners, transport, camel rides and local guides as specified. Lunches, personal drinks and certain entrance or guide charges are excluded, so plan a modest amount for those expenses without assuming that every stop requires a payment. Ask the operator about any optional visits you want to include.
Check the itinerary before closing your bag
Review the day-by-day planning notes to see when you change accommodation. If you are still comparing a two-desert circuit with a slower stay in one area, read the tour selection guide. The operator itinerary remains the source for dates, inclusions and current arrangements.
