Packing for New Year’s Eve at Erg Chegaga
Prepare for a High Atlas crossing, guesthouse stays and one night at a desert camp. A small overnight bag keeps camp essentials easy to find after the 4×4 journey from M’Hamid. Pack a warm layer for the desert evening, comfortable shoes, personal medication and toiletries.
Camp facilities and comfort
The Erg Chegaga camp is described as comfortable and has showers and toilets. Bring the personal items you would use for an overnight stay, and ask whether towels and other amenities are provided for your date. Keep valuables, documents and any medication with you during transfers.
Keep road-day items accessible
The journey travels from Marrakech through the High Atlas and Agdz, then back through the desert landscape towards Ouarzazate. Keep water, sun protection, a phone charger or power bank, and any motion-comfort items within reach during the longer drives. A scarf can help with wind or dust on the desert tracks.
Prepare for the actual celebration
There is a camel ride and a festive camp evening in the published programme. Ask the operator to confirm the current year’s dinner and entertainment, along with any dietary requirements. You do not need separate camping gear without checking first: confirm what the camp provides and pack for the agreed arrangement.
