New Year in Erg Chegaga: Planning the Four Days
This four-day journey leaves Marrakech on 30 December and returns on 2 January. The first night is in the Agdz area after the High Atlas and Ouarzazate crossing. On 31 December the route continues through the Drâa Valley towards M’Hamid and Erg Chegaga for the desert celebration. New Year’s Day travels back towards Ouarzazate; the final day returns to Marrakech via Aït Ben Haddou.
Know the three overnight settings
The tour uses quality guesthouses in Agdz and Ouarzazate and a comfortable desert camp at Erg Chegaga. The camp has showers and toilets. Ask for the actual room and tent category in your quote, especially if you have particular privacy or accessibility needs.
Plan around the desert transfer
The route beyond M’Hamid uses a 4×4 on desert tracks. Keep essentials in a small bag for the camp night, including a warm layer for the evening. The tour also describes a camel ride and a New Year gathering at camp. Confirm the exact programme, timing and meal arrangements for the year you travel.
Book the holiday sequence, not just the party
There are substantial driving days on either side of the celebration. Check the day-by-day route, pickup in Marrakech, accommodation, and the return time before arranging other commitments. A customised New Year tour is possible by request, but any changed stops or nights should be recorded in the booking itinerary.
