The eight-day route via Agadir moves from the Atlas and two desert areas to Taroudant and Essaouira. Agadir is a short stop on the way to the Atlantic overnight, so pack for a transfer day rather than an assumed beach day. The offer names camp nights at Merzouga and Chegaga; ask how your luggage reaches each one.
Prepare for two separate desert stops
Merzouga comes on day three, followed by an Agdez inn night before Chegaga on day five. Put overnight essentials in a smaller bag that is easy to use twice: a clean layer, toiletries, a light, medication and a power bank. A sealed pouch helps protect a phone or camera from dust. Ask what bedding, washing facilities and charging arrangements each camp provides; do not assume their setups match.
For the 4×4 journey through the Todgha area, the Drâa Valley and the Chegaga piste, keep a refillable water bottle, sun protection and any personal travel supplies where you can reach them. Comfortable closed shoes suit the listed short walks and uneven ground. Check the weather for the Atlas crossing and desert evenings, then adjust your layers for the season and forecast.
Keep coastal items accessible on day seven
After the Taroudant night, the route gives a quick Agadir break before reaching Essaouira. Keep a light layer and walking shoes near the top of the bag for the port, ramparts and medina on the following morning. With only a riad night on the coast, it helps to separate one change of clothes so you do not unpack everything after the inland transfer.
Plan for meals and personal costs
The included list describes accommodation with breakfasts and dinners, transport in a 4×4 and a camel ride. Lunches and personal drinks are excluded, as are certain monument entrance and guide charges. Keep a payment method for these daily expenses. If you have food restrictions or need help with camp access, discuss the arrangements in advance.
- Small camp bag: two sets of overnight essentials or a plan to refresh it between Merzouga and Chegaga.
- Vehicle day bag: water, layers, sunscreen, medication and protected electronics.
- Coastal change: shoes and clothing for the Essaouira riad night and final morning.
Use the day-by-day guide to understand when the bags change setting and the Atlantic stops guide to set expectations for Agadir. Confirm the current departure and camp details with the operator.
